Free mulch is available to residents and taxpayers of South Gippsland at any time of the year, but on designated days in October it will also be loaded free of charge into trailers and utility vehicles.
This will happen in three places.
The free mulching and loading service will be available at:
- Korumburra transfer station on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Foster Transfer Station on Saturday October 16 and Sunday October 17 between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- Venus Bay transfer station on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Outside of these times, free garden mulch is still available – while supplies last – but residents will need to load the mulch themselves.
“The free loading of mulch will make it easier for residents to collect mulch at our transfer stations. The mulch is made from green waste purchased by local residents and is mostly made up of tree prunings and a few grass clippings, ”said Allison Jones, Acting CEO of South Gippsland Shire Council.
“While we are unable to guarantee that the mulch is free of weeds or seeds, all green waste loads are inspected for noxious weeds at the point of disposal, which helps improve quality. mulch. ”
