When and where to recycle now – October 2021

There is no change in the schedule for free county-wide recycling depots for October sponsored by the Monroe County Recycling and Green Community Program and Republic Services.

The recycling trailer will first appear at the Kroger store near the M-50 in Dundee on Monday and at Bedford Township Hall, 8100 Jackman Rd., Temperance on Tuesday. It will be parked in the Bedford Room every Tuesday of the month, said Dan Rock, recycling and green community program coordinator for the county. The caravan will visit Monroe Town Hall at 4925 E. Dunbar Rd. Every Wednesday and Stevens Disposal Co., 16929 Ida West Rd., Petersburg, every Thursday. He will also visit the Dundee Kroger on October 18th and St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Erie on October 12th.

Visitors are reminded to bring only materials accepted for recycling and not to throw plastic bags in the bins. Recyclables can be dropped off freely inside and plastic bags can be dropped off at the entrance of some grocery stores, Rock said.

Materials accepted for recycling include aluminum, steel and cans; clear and colored glass; plastics labeled Nos 1-5 or 7; newspapers, tablecloths, office paper and magazines; spam; soft cover books; carton, and cartons of milk and juice. Lids and labels can be included.

Recyclable materials must be clean and dry and placed in bulk. Greasy pizza boxes, Styrofoam plastic, soiled paper, diapers, tools, medical instruments, yard waste, junk and food are not accepted, he said.

To recycle other materials, such as batteries, CFLs, computers, laptops, televisions and electronics, contact Rock at 240-7909 or email [email protected] or visit greenmonroecounty. com.
