Ever since Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd led them to a title shot against LeBron James’ Miami Heat in 2011, the Mavericks have struggled a lot in the playoffs. Although they’ve made the playoffs six times since that title, they’ve made a first-round exit each time. This time it looks very different.

Kidd is now the head coach of this Dallas team and he’s watched Slovenian sensation Luka Doncic take the league and this playoffs by storm. The 23-year-old is averaging more points per game (31.5) than anyone still in the playoffs. Only Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks averaged more (31.7), but he was eliminated by the Celtics last week.

The Warriors are back to a level of play that many people doubted they would reach again. After making five straight finals and winning three championships between 2014 and 2019, the ‘Dub’s’ had to sit back and watch Kevin Durant leave for Brooklyn, sniper Klay Thompson missed two and a half seasons due to injury and Steph Curry has sat out all but five games of the 2019-20 season with a broken hand. All of these shortcomings have led Golden State to miss the playoffs each of the past two seasons.

Now the “Splash Brothers” are cooking in the playoffs again, with Curry averaging 27 points per game and Thompson hitting just under 41% of his three-point attempts.

Although the Mavericks won their regular season series with the Warriors 3-1, Golden State is a 5-point favorite in Game 1 against Dallas. The plus/minus is 214.5.

The Mavericks vs Warriors live streams will air on TNT at 9 p.m. (Wednesday, May 18).

If you already cut the cord and don’t have a cable package? With the right choice from our best cable TV alternatives, you’ll be able to watch all of these games. But as much as we love FuboTV, it fails here without TNT, a must have for NBA fanatics.

Instead, you should get TV Sling, one of the best streaming services. ESPN and TNT are both included in the Sling Orange package, which costs $35, which is pretty low for live TV services (and the lowest price for one with ESPN). Sling is a great place to watch all the NBA playoffs, as ABC games will be simulcast on ESPN3. Sling Orange offers you TNT, ESPN, ESPN3 and its Sports Extra pack offers you NBA TV.

You can also lower ABC with one of the best TV antennas.

NBA fans in the UK need look no further than sky sports for all their playoff needs. Sky will show all matches on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Arena, although the times won’t be perfect for UK fans, with games usually starting at 1.30am BST.

If you already have a Sky subscription which doesn’t include Sports, you’ll need to pay £22/month to add these channels. You’ll also have access to 4K and HDR coverage, provided you also have an HDR-capable Sky Q box and an HLG-capable TV.

You might also consider the Sky NBA League Passwhich offers all NBA games for just £14.99/month, plus plenty of extra features including on-demand archived games – useful if you want to watch the next day – condensed replays and more.

If you don’t want to shell out for a full Sky Sub, you might also consider its Now Sports streaming service. This gets you 24 hour access for £9.99 or a month’s access for £33.99, but Sky is currently offering a lot here: you can sign up for six months of access for just £25/month now. Now Sports is available on virtually all streaming devices and is a great option if you don’t already have Sky.

The Kayo Premium plan at $35 per month gives you the same things as the normal plan, but it offers three simultaneous streams. The basic plan gives you two streams at the same time.

Not in Australia but generally a Kayo subscriber? You might need a little help from a service like ExpressVPN.
