Lifetime will premiere “The Gabby Petito Story,” a new thriller based on the tragic real-life disappearance and death of 22-year-old travel blogger Gabby Petito, on Saturday, October 1 at 8 p.m. Following the film’s premiere, Lifetime will also air a one-hour documentary. “Beyond the Headlines: Gabby Petito” will chronicle the fatal road trip with fiancé Brian Laundrie, who admitted to killing Petito in his notebook, which was found near his remains after he took his own life.

“The Gabby Petito Story” airs Oct. 1 at 8 p.m., with “Beyond the Headlines: Gabby Petito” following the movie at 10 p.m. on Lifetime. For those who have cut the traditional cable cords but still want to see the film and documentary, Philo and DirecTV Stream will both carry Lifetime live. Both channels offer free trials.

The film, which is part of the network’s “Stop Violence Against Women” campaign, is directed by actress Thora Birch, who also plays Petito’s mother, Nicole Schmidt. Skyler Samuels portrays Petito, while Evan Hall stars as Brain Laundrie.
